Couples Therapy

Couples therapy offers the safety of an environment where both parties are heard and all life experiences are factored into the hurtful patterns that can be established in relationships. We work to help clients clarify values and identify coping skills that may have worked in the past but no longer serve the individual or the relationship. We also offer a couples group. People generally feel more understood, cared for, and connected when the communication focuses on their emotions and feelings rather than solely on their words or thoughts. In couple's therapy, we can help each participant discern the real message or emotion behind the words. We help you listen with your heart for the heart of your partner. Often our job is that of helping you, the couple, learn how to create safety in the relationship so that true authentic communication can flourish. Our work is designed to help couples:

  • Build a deeper more meaningful relationship with their partner
  • Have a conversation instead of an argument when you can't agree with each other
  • Discover ways to move through breakdown in communications
  • Find ways to manage emotions so they don't lead to hurt feelings or emotional outbursts
